Please check back frequently - Under construction - Updated 2/1/09

2/1/09 - I was just out doing my evening chores.  Finally have started keeping my camera in my pocket most of the time and I was glad I had it this evening.  I have a few photos that you folks might enjoy.  There are a total of 5 photos that were taken.

What happened was so quick.  Just a couple of seconds.  These Kangals spring into action so fast.  One moment they are slowly walking and checking out the snow like playful pups. Then like the switch of a light coming on something catches their eye, they get laser vision,  focus, go on alert if they feel they should do so, then crouch and spring into a dead run.

These first three photos are of Inca & Safak's puppy from 08 that is with sheep and 2 goat bucks 24/7.  She was out enjoying the afternoon.  Just lazily walking around checking the snow and gently playing.

Next, in the photo above, something caught her eye off to the northwest.  She started to focus on it and walk slowly, thoughtfully, in the direction she was looking.

The photo on your left shows her on alert.  Just for a second she is like a stone statue.

The  photo on your right shows where she has made the choice to go after whatever she is focused on.  She goes from the rock hard alert pose to a rocking motion that led to a dead run in the direction she was looking.

Could not get a photo of her running.  She was just there and then gone like a flash.  I NEVER saw what she did but she & all the other dogs in the joining pastures went nuts barking.  GOOD GIRL !

You may ask, "What happened to the other Kangal?"  She stayed with the stock near the barn while her 1/2 sister went after the threat.  Good girl.

Sometimes both go and sometimes one goes and one stays.  They decide what should be done and I trust their choices.

The photo above is of the Yasemin & Safak 08 puppy that stayed with the stock.  She DID lend a hand by barking.

The other photo is not very good but it is the best I could get & just too cute to resist.  After the Inca puppy came back to the barn, everything was back to normal.  They were in mixed with the sheep and goats.  I got this photo as you can see the Yasemin/Safak puppy is kissing the goat buck on the mouth.
