Week 4

11/12/08 - The next few weeks will go rapidly for the pups here on the farm.   There will be so much to do in just a few short weeks preparing them for their new homes.  Contact with different adults and children becomes more important as the pups become more aware of their surroundings.

They are maturing rapidly and beginning to look like little Kangals now.  They sit quietly and look all around at what is going on.  The pups are more stable on their feet, they sense things in their environment, they are beginning to make some motions that look like play with their siblings.

In the photo on the left I had just milked the goats and put some milk in the puppy bowl.  They are looking at the milk but are not quite sure what to do with it.  One got in the bowl and was covered with milk.  In the photo on the right Lokum came into the puppy pen and showed her babies what to do with that wet stuff.  Photos 11 13 08.

11/13/08 - In the photo on the left it is so cute that one pup is taking a sip off of Lokum instead of drinking from the pan.  On the right Lokum is cleaning the excess milk off of her pups.  Such a good mom.

11/16/08 -  Due to the horrible weather we were not able to load up the pups for their first wagon ride.  Sure wish we could have but we will have to wait until this next week.  We are to get around 6 inches of snow tonight and it has been very slushy at the farm.

What we did was move the pups to a much larger pen in the barn.  We brought in the goats and they are in the pen right next to the pups.  So, since we could not take the pups to the livestock, we brought the livestock to the pups.  Photos below of the pups from 11/16/08.

11/16/08 - The photo on the left is the litter getting supper from Ma Lokum.  On the right is a sweet male pup being socialized.  If you look behind the young lady in the photo you will see the goats that are in the pen next to the pups.

11/16/08 - In the photo on the left is a little male pup that is trying to get his little sis to play.  On the right is sweet Ma Lokum with some of her pups gathered around her.

11/16/08 - On the left is a little gal sleeping off by herself from the rest of the litter.  On the right is poor Ma Lokum with a few of her pups.  Lokum is sound asleep as well as the pups.

11/16/08 - On the left is a sweet little pup being socialized.  Nothing like little pups to make folks smile.  On the right is a sweet little female pup.  The pups are starting to get lighter in color.  This will continue for the weeks to come.
