Third Week
Home Up Second Week Third Week Fourth Week Fifth Week Sixth Week Seventh Week Eight Week Yasemin's Pups

As we are entering our third week since birth I am seeing some changes in our puppies.  They have started taking their first baby steps.  They are very wobbly and plop down on the floor after a few shaky tries at walking.  Their eyes are not open at this moment.  1/20/06

This week there will be many changes for the puppies.  They will be moved out on the farm as their eyes open.  We will begin by putting them in a fenced area right next to goats.  The reason for this is that they will begin picking up on the goats smells and sounds.  This is a fragile stage of life.   We do not want a goat squashing a puppy.

All the puppies will be fawn with black mask and ears as they age.  Even the darker ones.

1/24/06 - There have been a TON of changes for this litter this week.  First the puppies survived a 5 hour car trip from Chicago to our farm.  They did very well with the trip.  Better than I expected.

Once we got to the farm they were set up in the barn and in a nice bed of straw.  The weather was a major factor in our actions regarding the litter this week.  Naturally once I got to the farm in Michigan, the weather turned VERY NASTY !  The winds have been in excess of 50 mph. We have had snow, sleet, and ice.

Remember, the pups were in a nice warm and steady environment.  Ed and I set them up with a heat lamp in the barn and the pups made the transition from the nice warm environment to the cold Michigan weather in a barn.  All are doing super well and have adapted very nicely.  These dogs are so versatile.

Yasemin has been the most wonderful Mom.  She has a heavy burden feeding and caring for 14 puppies.

A special and fun note is that early this morning the pups opened their eyes.  WHAT FUN !  I love it when they can see.  They look at me when I come in and one little fellow barked at me.  Way to go little guardian pups :)

They are stronger on their legs.  They move around the puppy pen area and there are less falls on their faces :)

I will try to get photos and post them soon.  It is difficult with such huge weather changes as my camera fogs up.

Precious pups - 1/26/06.  Do you think the little ones would cooperate and open their eyes for the photo?  Heck no !  They insisted on sleeping.  I will try again later but I wanted to update the photos.
