As stated previously, our dogs
come from very strong working lines many generations back. Many of our
dogs are from direct Turkish Imports or are Imported themselves. These
dogs have all done what they were bred to do every day of their lives - worked
livestock.
When our dogs have been shown
by us (a very few times) in the past, they were literally taken out of the fields they
were working the morning of the show, cleaned up for the show, and returned back home to
the field each night to continue on with their livestock protection duties. Excellent working ability is the most
important factor and that is what they prefer to do.
Showing, in the past was used only to
socialize our dogs. They just happen to have excellent conformation and
do well at the shows too. They most certainly are excellent examples of
the Kangal Breed.
Our Kangal dogs are always glad to
get back home and out to the fields again. That is what they enjoy the
most. Guarding their livestock.
This
year (2008) we may show a little if we have time and the desire to do so. We
will begin showing some of our working Kangal dogs this year (2008) as we
know they are excellent examples of the Kangal breed as well.
Showing
is our lowest priority but continues to be an excellent opportunity to socialize our working dogs as well
as educate folks about the Kangal breed. However, keep in mind that these
dogs are the same ones that work the fields each and every day.
