    Yasemin's First Litter

On January 8, 2006 Yaseminm (Jazz) whelped her first litter of Kangal puppies.  The sire of this litter was Kahraman (Maverick).  She whelped 14 puppies.  She had 8 males and 6 females.  There is quite a tale to tell about this beloved dog.  This is her story.

Jazz on 12/26/05 resting quietly in our home.  Waiting for the big moment.

What needs to be kept in mind is that Yasemin has been a livestock guardian dog since the moment we brought her home.  She came to us at 8 weeks of age.  She has been living in the pasture on the farm for almost 3 years.  She has NEVER been in a house for any reason before now.  She was only taken to a couple of shows for socialization purposes.

This amazing dog adapted to our home instantly as noted above.  She has been very gentle moving around the home and has been the best house dog a person could wish for.  I am always amazed by how these dogs adapt.  She will be very happy when she is back out on the farm.  However, we wanted to monitor these pups closely until their eyes are open.

The first photo was taken on 1/10/06 & the second one that I call "puppy love" was taken on 1/11/06.

All Kangal puppies will be fawn with black mask and ears as they age.  Even the darker ones.

This photo was taken 1/12/06.  Yasemin had decided the pups had had enough to eat.  So, she gently turned on her back out of reach - chow hall is now closed.  This one little fellow would not take no for an answer :)  So cute !

On Wednesday January 11,2006 the pups went to the vet for their first check up/physical and to have their dew claws removed.  The vet was VERY IMPRESSED with the entire litter.  He feels that Yasemin is doing a super great job, which I already knew :)

He checked them over very carefully,  each and every one.  He checked their little mouths, navels, and basically all over.  He said they all looked "perfect."  "Very healthy and very happy."
