 Eating Solid food 2/4/06

As we enter the fifth week since birth several more changes have occurred.  The pups have started eating dried puppy chow along with drinking their milk.  This is the brand of puppy food we use and the pups will go home on this brand of puppy food.  Hundchen Flocken Puppy (lamb)

The pups are much stronger than they were last week.  They are more steady on their feet and are getting to be very quick as well.  When I come to feed them they are now all rushing to the door and it is getting harder to get into the kennel with 14 little bodies all around my legs and feet :)

Today (2/8/06) the pups have graduated to 15" puppy feeder bowls.  They have outgrown their first milk bowls.  I wish I could have sound with this photo as it is so cute to hear 14 pups lapping up the milk.   I was laughing so hard at the sweet sound I could hardly take a photo.

There are other changes as well since 2/4/06.  The little pups will run toward me as I enter the pen and all wag their tails as they are so happy to see me.  They are much stronger and much faster than they were 4 days ago.  I have had to set up a barrier of hay by the door so they all don't rush out of the pen when I come in with their milk.

It is very hard to get photos now as they are so very active none will hold still for the shots.  I will have to get some volunteers to hold the pups for photos.

2/9/06 - I call this photo puppies at the feet.  We have to be so very careful not to step on one as they are right there in a flash.  What happens is when I walk into the pen the pups all rush over to see us.  I am now their second mom and they know I have FOOD :)  They are sucking at the bottom of Ellen's pants legs in this photo even though they had just eaten until full.  They are so very cute and love to see us.
