This is one of my favorite books. The Kangal dog from Turkey is a landrace animal and as such this books theories and applications for conservation are applicable.

Managing Breeds for a Secure Future presents challenges regarding maintaining genetic diversity within species & breeds of livestock and poultry. It is a theoretical exposition as well as a user's guide. Conservation issues are presented and there are practical approaches for developing successful strategies for securing and standardized breeds and landrace animals.
